I know this is off topic, but I'm having heart issues due to chemo? Has anyone ever had a cardiac catherization? I'm very hesitant to say yes to the doctor as it doesn't seem too urgent at this point.

What kind of heart problems are you having? Pain, shortness of breath, a fast heart beat you feel? Have you had an echocardiagram or an ekg, post chemo? What did they show? I have taken care of many people post catheterization. There can be complications as with anything, but for the most part they are pretty safe. Have you seen a cardiologist?

Augh, I am so sorry you are going through all of this. You will be great tomorrow, the cath will go fast. Your leg may be a little sore, but no biggie compared to what you have been through. It seems like your cardiologist is on top of it all, i will be sending you lots of positive vibes! Good luck tomorrow, hope you can rest tonight.

I do see a cardiologist. I've had a mugascan and have 37% EF. I was put on two BP meds in hopes of recovery, but an echo 4 months later still shows 35 - 40% EF. I'm currently in the hospital and will have the procedure just to rule out blockage as I was admitted on Friday with high BP and abnormal EKG. Readings and EKG came back to normal, but the doc wants this test. So tomorrow it will be.

I have a cousin that now has an irregular heart beat and is on meds due to damage from her chemo. I would have the tests the drs suggest for you. Good luck.

I have cardio myopathy from herceptin. It basically damaged a chamber of my heart to only function 30%. I had A muga scan a type of ct for the functioning of the heart" prior to, during chemo. This is how it was discovered and I had to stop chemo 2 treatments short. I was put on meds and exercise to my tolerance. Many more muga scans and echocardio grams. The damaged chamber in my heart has repaired to 47% functioning. I just did everything they told me to and am doing ok on the meds. Maybe either of these types of tests can be helpful. Consult with your doc until you and he/she feel you are getting the best treatment you both are comfortable with. Good luck.
