There is a great step by step tool to do your breast self-exam (BSE) here: http://ww5.komen.org/Content.aspx?id=5310 The site also lists things to look for during your exam, and makes recommendations if you feel/notice something. Just be sure to regularly self-exam, and if you are 40+, get a mammogram.

Here is a quick and easy step-by-step guide for a breast self-exam: http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/About-Breast-Cancer/Breast-Self-Exam.aspx Also, you can sign up for an Early Detection Plan at https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/edp/default.aspx. This will send you reminders about when to do your BSEs, CBEs, and when you should have a mammogram. Hope this helps!
