Has anyone taking anastrozole had severe headaches ? I've never had anything like this before. Can it make you have a stroke ?

I have had migraine headaches for over 25 years that were triggered by hormone fluctuations and they still continue even though I've been on anastrozle for 8 months or so. Mine are controlled by a medicine of the "Triptan" type. There are a number of different kinds but all their generic names end in -Triptan.

Sorry! Hit the enter button before I was done! But, I know what you mean about feeling that the headache feels like a stroke. I could not function without my meds. Ask your oncologist if you can try a Triptan. There are some side effects, but very tolerable since it knocks my headaches right out in a half hour. Good luck!

I have been getting the headaches also. They are very faint. Not like a migraine. But I don't like this side effect at all.

Thank you for answering, Monique. This type of headache is new for me, and started as soon as I began taking anastrozole.

Yes same here. I thought it was the lexipro but it's not. I'm going to talk to my onc about it.

Hi, perhaps you need to be talking with your oncologist and see what they say. I hope they get better.
