I'm confused. If you are going for your first mammogram, how do you know you have cancer, let alone stage 3?

Well my breast cancer hurt only because my daughter bump where the lump was and I immediately felt the pain and continued to have it until Surgurey .

Alexandra, Have you been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer? How did that happen without a mammogram? Breast cancer can either be painful or not painful.... it is a sneaky disease and pain or not isn't a good indicator whether or not you have breast cancer. I had pain with my breast cancer. Good luck with the mammogram. Take care, Sharon

My lump did not hurt and my breast surgeon said she knew for sure it was cancer upon exam and the fact that it didn't hurt. So, based on the response here, it may or may not. The best route is that mammogram you are scheduled for. Good luck!
