I'm just coming up to my 1st Anniversary since being diagnosed. How have other ladies coped with having the mammogram? My breast is still tender and sore at times and mammograms hurt at the best times. What can I expect?

That first mammogram after treatment comes with many fears. As for the pain I asked my surgeon if I could have a breast ultrasound the first year it took away my fear of pain to my tender breast. I was on pins and needles through it all I have been fortunate to have the same mammogram/ ultrasound technician throughout the years i was first diagnosed in 2003 with DCIS have had multiple biopsies multiple stages of bilateral mastectomies throughout the years. Before each mammogram the tech ask for an update and goes from there trying her best to be as gentle as possible for me the real fear that first year was if something more was found i prepare myself for that possibility each year with a prayer dear Jesus please help the technician to get a good mammogram so the radiologist can evaluate it completely and if something is found let it be in the early stages so it can be treated easily. May God bless take care

I was diagnosed 1/25/2011. I will be at every mammogram, CT, MRI because those tests saved my life. I never want that phone call again, BUT I will fight like my life depends on it. Sore doesn't factor into the discussion. Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer stage III 7.3 cm tumor

I wonder about that myself. I will have to face that before long too and they will NOT do one if I am still sore.
