Subchapter: 7 - Inflammatory Breast Cancer
Inflammatory Breast Cancer is another uncommon but aggressive form of cancer, in which abnormal cells infiltrate the skin and lymph vessels of the breast. This type of cancer usually does not produce a distinct tumor or lump that can be felt and isolated within the breast. Symptoms begin to appear when the lymph vessels become blocked by the cancer cells; the breast typically becomes red, swollen, and warm. The breast skin may appear pitted like an orange peel, and the nipple’s shape may change, causing it to appear dimpled or inverted.
Typically, Inflammatory Breast Cancer grows rapidly and requires aggressive treatment. It may be classified as Stage 3B, 3C, or even Stage 4, depending on your physician’s diagnosis and the results of your biopsy. The treatment most oncologists recommend includes initial chemotherapy followed by a mastectomy and chest wall radiation therapy. The doctor may recommend additional chemotherapy and hormone treatments following radiation.

Patient -
Any suggestions on nail care after chemo? I finished my course of chemotherapy in December. I started having nail issues a month later. They are starting to split and come off. What do I do until they grow back? Any help is appreciated.

If you can prevent yourself from removing them it would save you some pain. Keep them short.

My mother started Taxol this past Monday. A/C was VERY hard on her but we were hopeful that Taxol was going to be easier. However, her body aches are beyond painful and painkillers dont work. Isn't Taxol supposed to be easier than A/C?

Not always I'm with your mom. Taxol was worse for me and by five or so days into it and off the pre meds it was determined I was allergic to it they shifted me into taxotare and extended mths pre medication. Bes to her and the team decision.

The first couple of cycles of Taxol were very painful for me, also. My oncologist said it was because of the combination of the Taxol and the remaining A/C in my system. A couple of weeks in, all of the pain went away and I felt much better.
